Cynthia Brouse is an award-winning writer, editor and teacher/trainer with more than two decades' experience in the Canadian magazine industry as well as in teaching fundamental magazine editorial skills, business communications and English as a second language to adults.
Currently copy chief at Chatelaine and a former managing editor of Saturday Night magazine in Toronto, Cynthia has also been honoured by the National Magazine Awards in Canada for her magazine journalism. She spent five years on the English faculty at George Brown College in Toronto, and since 1987 has taught part-time in Ryerson University's School of Journalism and in its Magazine Publishing Certificate Program in the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson.
Corporations and professional organizations such as Rogers Media Publishing, the Editors' Association of Canada, The Daggerwing Group, University of Toronto Magazine, the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association and Magazines University have called on Cynthia to present talks and workshops on the subjects of copy editing, proofreading, fact-checking and effective business writing.
